Paso Robles Wine Tours: Adelaida

Adelaida

Adelaida's wines begin at the roots, pushing through the rocky limestone soils on the west side of Paso Robles on California's Central Coast. The winery, which originated in 1981, is located 14 miles east of the Pacific Ocean at an elevation of 1,800 feet in the Santa Lucia mountain chain.

Adelaida produces from its own Estate vineyards and a select group of contracted vineyards on the west side of Paso Robles. Amongst its holdings are the two principal estate properties, Viking Vineyard and HMR Vineyard. The mighty Viking Vineyard was planted in 1992 and is now producing great Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.

Paso Robles Wine Tours: Calcareous Vineyard

Calcareous Vineyard

The vision of three motivated people helped make Calcareous Vineyard a reality. Lloyd Messer sold his wine and beer distributing business in Sioux City, Iowa, to search for the ideal growing region for his vineyard sites. He recognized Paso Robles, California, as an emerging premium wine producing area.

We have the land, weather, sunshine, vines, and winemaker, creating the optimal conditions for the development of the best possible wines. Most importantly, it is our pleasure to offer you what the ancient Greeks called "the gift of the gods".

Paso Robles Wine Tours: Caliza Winery

Caliza Winery

  …Spanish for the word 'limestone'.
…dedication to the pursuit of perfection.

Paso Robles Wine Tours: Carina Cellars

Carina Cellars

At Carina Cellars we strive to produce wines worthy of being placed among the stars. We seek out vineyards throughout the Central Coast with the best Rhône grapes available in a quest to produce truly great wines. With crisp Viogniers full of tropical fruit and spring flowers, dark Syrahs loaded with spice and lush fruit, earthy Mourvedres and bright, fruity Grenaches, we represent the classic character of Santa Ynez Valley and Paso Robles in our wines.

Carina Cellars is the result of an avid wine collector with a dream who meets an accomplished winemaker with a vision. When attorney and businessman David Hardee and winemaker Joey Tensley met in 2002, they were quick to recognize the benefits of combining their passion.

Paso Robles Wine Tours at Castoro Cellars

Castoro Cellars

The husband and wife team of Niels and Bimmer Udsen established Castoro Cellars with the goal of producing world-class wines from Paso Robles-appellation grapes. Each vintage presents a new challenge and Niels is more than willing to constantly and creatively experiment. This on-going research is only one of the things that ensures they meet their goal.

Niels' long-time nickname "Beaver," evolved further when he was working in Italy and his friends soon took to calling him "Il Castoro," which is beaver in Italian. The name and the motto stuck. Castoro Cellars' "dam fine wines" sport a picture of a beaver on each label.

Paso Robles Wine Tours at Cass Vineyards

Cass Vineyards

Cass Vineyards and Winery is located in the rolling, oak-studded hills between Paso Robles and Creston on California's beautiful Central Coast. This area that the vineyard calls home offers quiet serenity for the visitor and a perfect growing season for wine grapes. Sited due east of the “Templeton Gap”, we receive the evening's cooling breezes that the west side of Paso Robles is noted for.

One hundred percent of the wines crafted at Cass Winery are Estate Grown. Our vineyard surrounds our Tasting Room and winery. You can literally touch, taste, see and smell the grapes from the block where they were harvested.

Paso Robles Wine Tours at DAOU Vineyards

DAOU Vineyards

Originally from France, George was the first to move to San Diego in the late 1970's, followed by Daniel in 1983. Both graduated from UCSD with engineering degrees. Shortly after school they founded Daou Systems, an information technology networking business. In less than 10 years, they took the company public in what amounted to one of the top 5 IPO's in the country.

Currently, Daou Vineyards main product is its La Capilla label. These wines are made from premium grapes grown in the best California regions which result in a variety of reds and red blends.

Paso Robles Wine Tours at Dunning Vineyards

Dunning Vineyard

Robert had been producing great wine from Paso Robles vineyards non-commercially for years. But grapes were getting harder and harder to find and Robert was quickly outgrowing his sources. He wanted complete control from the vineyard to the bottle in an effort to produce only the finest wines.

In 1991 Bob and his wife Jo-Ann began planting their own vineyard with Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc in the hills west of Paso Robles. They later added Zinfandel and Syrah. According to Robert they are not completely done. We want the 'right grape for the area.'

Paso Robles Wine Tours at Eberle Winery

Eberle Winery

In 1973, Gary Eberle began his career in the wine industry by heading his family's Estrella River Winery (currently Meridian Vineyards in Paso Robles) and produced 500,000 cases a year at its facility. Eberle's pioneering spirit didn't stop there. In 1980, he co-founded the Paso Robles Appellation and in 1983, Gary opened the doors to his own Eberle Winery with the premiere of Eberle's 1979 Cabernet Sauvignon.

Today, Eberle handcrafts 25,000 cases of wine each year from surrounding Estate vineyards. And, after more than 25 years since the release of the Eberle label, the winery consistently remains one of the highest award-winning wineries in the United States.

Our adventure began in 1997 when we purchased 30 beautiful acres of gently rolling hillside terrain on the much desired Westside of the Paso Robles AVA. Our philosophy from the beginning was that great fruit makes great wine and each of our vintages have only validated our theory.

Paso Robles Wine Tours at Pear Valley Vineyards

Pear Valley Vineyards

Located in Paso Robles, California, one of the fastest growing vineyard and wine areas in the state. The Paso Robles area is famous for the diurnal temperature variation and the peaceful beauty.

The diurnal temperature variation is due to the unique location near enough to the Pacific Ocean to produce the cool evenings and yet having high temperatures and maximum sunlight exposure during the day. Our grapes are able to hang on the vine to full ripeness, a characteristic which then manifests itself delightfully in our wine.

Paso Robles Wine Tours at PerCazo Cellars

PerCazo Cellars

Per Cazo is an Italian derivation of "By Chance". That may be how you found us and are glad you did. Per Cazo Cellars is a boutique, family winery dedicated to handcrafted wines--elegant, sophisticated, and without pretense. Our wines, produced in limited quantities, reflect the styles of Rhone and Bordeaux and are made in the distinctive terrior of Westside Paso Robles on the central coast of California.

It was a series of chance encounters that led the Teckmans to establish Per Cazo Cellars. We looked up and down the California Coast and even into Oregon, but in the end we decided to locate Per Cazo Cellars in Paso Robles. Only a few miles in from the beautiful Central California coast, nestled into the western hills, Paso Robles offers the life style of a small town with local wine making expertise to rival any world wide.

Paso Robles Wine Tours at Villicana Winery

Villicana Winery

Enjoy the limited production, award-winning wines produced by our family owned and operated winery. We produce fewer than 1,800 cases per year, which allows proprietors Alex and Monica Villicana to handcraft each vintage and create a superior wine.

We personally planted our 13 acre vineyard and continue to farm it with an emphasis on maintaining low yields which produce intensely concentrated fruit. By doing this we are able to ensure that only premium grapes are used to produce our memorable Estate wines.

Paso Robles Wine Tours at Wild Coyote Estate Winery

Wild Coyote Winery

Gianni Manucci grew up in California, became an architect, and pursued a more creative balance to his life through stone sculpturing. But, his true roots in grape farming began in Europe over three generations ago which inspired him to get back to his roots in 1995. His hands-on personal skills shine in this beautiful 40-acre hillside vineyard, and his UC-Davis viticulture education has gained him many winemaking awards.

Located on the Central Coast of California, which is about halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Paso Robles Wine Tours at Whalebone Vineyard

Whalebone Vineyard

Whalebone Vineyard derives its name from the many whale and marine fossils trapped in the vineyards’ broken shale and limestone.

In 1989, on this hillside reminiscent of a moonscape, the Simpson Family planted this distinctive property exclusively to Cabernet Sauvignon. Today the vines have lost their youthful exuberance and are gracefully transforming into a harmonious, low vigor vineyard, which needs little manipulation to produce low yields and high concentration required for quality wine.
